Unionville, Markham eateries charged for food safety violations

York Region Public Health inspectors charged Unionville and Markham restaurants with food safety violations last week.

Eggtart Queen at 4981 unit 3 Hwy. 7 was charged with using a handwashing station other than for handwashing of employees on June 24, according to a public health inspection report.

The report notes a list of non-compliance items, including failure to use the handwashing station for reasons other than its intended use and failure to provide equipment for cleaning and sanitizing utensils as required.

Food handler education was conducted on-site, a proof of public health sign was posted and a ticket was served.

Wild Wing at 9408 unit B1 Markham Rd., was charged with failure to maintain handwashing stations on June 24.

The report notes a list of non-compliance items, including failure to maintain a handwashing station and failure to ensure the presence of a certified food handler or supervisor during all hours of operation.

Food handler education was conducted on-site, an acceptable temporary measure was put in place, a proof of public health sign was posted and a ticket was served. A re-inspection will be conducted at a later date.

York Region Public Health states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
