What’s open and closed in Aurora on Canada Day?

A number of businesses will be closed or have shorter hours

Canada Day is upon us in Aurora and across Canada, on Monday, July 1. Here is what will be open and closed in Aurora on that day.

What’s open:

A number of grocery stores will be open but have shorter hours on Monday. Metro on Henderson Drive, Real Canadian Superstore on Bayview Avenue and No Frills on Yonge Street will all be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day. Walmart on First Commerce Drive will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. T&T Supermarket on Bayview will be open its usual hours 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Some pharmacies are closed, but Shoppers Drug Mart on Yonge Street will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight.

Malls and shopping centres in the region will close early, including Upper Canada Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and Hillcrest Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Tanger Outlets (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

Aurora Cineplex on Bayview will be open on Canada Day.

The Aurora Family Leisure Complex will be open for a shorter period on Canada Day, with lane swims, public skates, the fitness centre and open gym sessions all happening. Check the town's holiday schedules here.

GO Transit will be running on a Saturday schedule.

York Region Transit will be running on a Sunday schedule.

What’s closed:

  • All LCBO stores are closed on July 1
  • LCBO stores and local Beer Store locations
  • Southlake Academic Family Health Team
  • Service Ontario
  • Costco
  • Aurora IDA Pharmacy on William Graham Drive
  • The Rexall pharmacy on Yonge Street in Oak Ridges
  • Aurora Public Library
  • Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex (S.A.R.C.)

There will also be road closures for Aurora’s Canada Day parade:

  • Yonge Street from Henderson Drive to Orchard Heights Boulevard, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Edward Street from Allaura Boulevard to Yonge Street, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Aurora Heights Drive from Yonge Street to Laurentide Avenue, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Northbound Yonge Street from Industrial Parkway South to Henderson Drive, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

What's happening:

There’s lots happening in Aurora on Canada Day.

Watch the Canada Day parade starting at 10 a.m. from Yonge Street to Aurora Heights Drive with festive floats and marching bands.
