Aurora man charged for trying to rob Toronto bank with scissors

Police say man used scissors to threaten employees and demand cash

A 38-year-old Aurora man has been charged after police say he allegedly tried to rob a Toronto bank by threatening employees with a pair of scissors. 

On Monday, June 24, at about 3:26 p.m., police were called about a robbery in the University Avenue and Dundas Street West area.

Police say the man allegedly entered the bank and approached a teller, threatening them and demanding cash and that he then produced a pair of scissors and began to threaten the employees.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect.

“It is further alleged that at the time of the arrest, officers recovered a knife,” according to a statement from the Toronto Police Service.

The man was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.

He appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Ave. W., on Tuesday, June 25.
