Driver injured after rock thrown at windshield in Markham

Police investigating two rock-throwing incidents that occurred Saturday

Police are looking for suspects after rocks were thrown at vehicles early Saturday morning in Markham.

At about 1 a.m., police were told a vehicle was eastbound on 16th Avenue, near Mingay Avenue, when it was struck by a large rock. The driver said it was thrown from a vehicle that was being driven in the opposite direction.

At about 1:30 a.m., a driver reported a rock had been thrown at his windshield, striking him in the face, in the area of Stouffville and McCowan roads. He suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

York Regional Police is working with Ontario Provincial Police, which is investigating several similar incidents that have occurred since Sept. 20 in the area of Highway 48 and Major Mackenzie Drive.
