Markham man faces trafficking charge after vehicle search in Parry Sound

A 24-year-old Markham man was arrested following seizure of large amount of suspected cocaine from a vehicle in Archipelago Township on Sept. 25, according to the West Parry Sound detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Just before midnight, OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 69 as a result of an automatic licence plate reader hit.

A wanted person from southern Ontario was located in the vehicle and arrested, police said in a news release.

Officers searched the vehicle and located a large amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000, police said.

Matthew Delves was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.

The accused was held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, police said.

Also arrested was Anthony Rattray, 24, of North York, also charged with possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Oct. 31, 2024.
