The Aurora Farmers’ Market is gearing up for the last half of the season, continuing to offer lots of fun and exciting events for everyone in the community.

The 22-year-old market happens May to October, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Park in Aurora. The market hosts 45 regular vendors each week, as well as space for non-profit community groups, weekly entertainment, a kids’ craft corner, and special events each month.

“We are a regulated Farmers’ Market,” said market board member Anne Waters. “We offer seasonal, Ontario grown, Ontario sourced, fruit and vegetables. 70% of the merchandise being offered for sale is from our vendor farms, and artisan products are produced by the vendor.”

Monthly special events at the market continue in September and October, to end the season for this year.

In September, Aurora Farmers’ Market will host its annual Stuff a Truck event, on September 14, 21, and 28. This event supports the Aurora Food Pantry with donations of food and money to help those dealing with food insecurity in the area.

“We are excited to host Stuff a Truck again this year!” said Market Coordinator, Paddy Honey. “We hope to provide lots of donations to the food pantry, with the generous help of local community members and the market vendors. Come out, bring your donations, and see how full the truck is getting!”

Finishing off this year’s market season is the annual Hallowe’en Market, on October 26. Each year kids are encouraged to join in two parades, at 10 a.m. and 12 noon, to show off their Hallowe’en finery. In addition, the much-anticipated dog parade is back, at 11 a.m.

“We would like to thank the Aurora Farmers’ Market Board members and Social Pup for sponsoring the prizes for this event,” said Honey.

She continued, “We really have fun at our Hallowe’en Market! Dave’s Vinyl Party will be spinning a suitably creepy playlist, and we will have several spooky backgrounds for those important photo opportunities for kids and pets. Also, we will have free Hallowe’en themed bracelets and nut-free treats for kids, and pet key chains for the dog companions on parade! Our traditional Hallowe’en Spider Lolly craft will finish off a season of creative fun in our Craft Zone.”
