Ryszard Zajkowski, of Maple, won a $1-million Maxmillions prize in the Aug. 6 Lotto Max draw.

Retiree Ryszard Zajkowski of Maple shook from head to toe on learning he had won a $1-million Maxmillions prize in the Aug. 6, 2024 Lotto Max draw.

“When I realized I had won, I was left in disbelief,” Zajkowski said, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall.

“I thought there was no way this could be real. My body was shaking from head to toe. When I told my wife the news, she cried tears of joy. We are so happy. This experience has been miraculous.”

For the time being, Zajkowski plans to save his windfall.

Zajkowski has been playing the lottery with OLG for more than 35 years and this is his first big win. He enjoys playing games like Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, and Ontario 49, using a set of personal numbers that include special birthdays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on Southdown Road in Mississauga.
